If you don't like weather in Jackson ....wait 30 minutes.

Hey Family,

I’m glad you all had a great Easter:)  Thank you so much for the package and all the wonderful goodies. Wow, you guys send more then I could wish for …and what a nice tie you got me. I can’t wait until I get to wear it.  Thanks again!

That’s so cool that you got to meet Brother and Sister Miles. They are wonderful family.
Elder Gerber and I had a wonderful week this past week.  We’re working with an amazing group of investigators.  If all goes well we will be having a baptism of Joshua this coming Saturday. He is an amazing guy (20 years old) and we’ve found him tracting. Then we have Stephanie who was also found tracting. She came to church this past week and she loved it. She also made a good friend with Thelma, one of the recent converts in the Ward. They actually hung out for a long time after church. That’s why fellowshipping and member referrals are so important, they allow the investigator to progress faster and it makes them feel welcomed. Stephanie is awesome and she has such a sweet soul.

We’ve also set another baptismal date this past week for May 14, so that was good. The Lord has blessed us with much success because of our obedience and diligence and because of His love for all of God’s children.

We have an investigator who name is Mac and he makes sure we know our stuff.  It has been fun teaching him because he is challenging and that makes me want to study harder and to make sure I know my Bible and the Book of Mormon:)

I love being able to study everyday for two hours because it helps me so much in lessons with investigators  ….and there is so much to learn. On February 26 I started reading the Book of Mormon again and started to mark with different colors, four things. 1) with the color blue - each reference to Jesus Christ ( any of his names or pronounces referring to Him) 2) with the color green - His words ( spoken by Him or by Prophets when they say, "Thus saith the Lord." 3) with the color yellow - His attributes 4) with the color red - the doctrines and principles contained in the Book of Mormon. This has helped me tremendously. After I’ll finish reading the Book of Mormon, I will try to study through the entire Bible, then D&C.  Study it is great.

The GPS has been such a great investment and I have no idea how missionaries can do without it.
We are expecting a tornado that is supposed to be hitting the county surrounding Jackson, but don’t worry we’ll be fine. The weather in the south is so weird.   Locals joke around saying, “If you don't like weather in Jackson, wait 30 minutes.”

Have a wonderful week, be good and have fun. It’s an exciting time of year.
Love,

Elder Wawro

That's The Plan!

Dear Family,

Sorry for the late email, we’ve had a crazy busy Preparation day. I am glad to hear that your week was good and busy. Also, thank you so much for the pictures you sent me, they are very funny! I am also very excited for Jordan Barrett leaving form his mission soon, he will have a blast.
Not so good that Michael's new apartment is apparently worse than Alpine's, because it means it’s not that good. But that’s ok, it will prepare him for his mission, haha. Please don't forget to tell Brother Deal congratulations from me on his new calling. He will do great:)

This email will not be long because I have not really been able to put all my thoughts together (too much running around).

Well the good news is that Elder Gerber and I are doing very well and are being blessed by the Lord.  We have been fortunate to have success and we hope to continue to have success as we stay obedient and work diligently. At this moment we have 5 baptismal dates although most of them will have to be pushed back farther into the month of May. We have had lots of teaching appointments this past week and thought lots of lessons; the most I have ever taught ...and that is just awesome:)
The work is moving along and the Ward members here are doing a great job fulfilling their roles as member missionaries.

There is a member here who lives in an apartment complex that may allow us missionaries to teach something like a Bible study class. We will start off teaching from the Bible but you better believe we will use the Book of Mormon not too long after (that’s the plan).

Thank you guys for everything and thank you for the package you have sent me! I will surely enjoy it. Mom, to answer your question, Elder Gerber and I switch off driving everyday because both of us can drive …and it’s good to share (lol).

Got to go.  I love you, I love you, and I love you.  Have a great week!!!!!!!

Sorry for the short email :)

Bouncing off the walls:)

Dear Family,

This week was pure awesomeness! My new companion is great. His name is Elder Gerber, yeah, like the baby food brand, but he prefers to associate his last name with the knives (tool) brand. He is from Las Vegas, so no Utah companions yet. He has been out for just over 6 months so he is no longer a greeny (a young and inexperienced missionary) …as for me I still have a little under 4 months of ‘greenness’. Elder Gerber is obedient to the missionary rules and likes to work hard so we are getting along great. The work is going to be moving along great this next transfer and we hope to get a few baptisms together.

We have a baptismal date set with Dorothy Jackson. The baptismal date is set for May 6th (few weeks away), so we hope she will continue to progress steadily.

The teaching pool has tremendously increased since me and Elder Gerber embarked to be companions. We have a lot of new investigators, many of them ‘quality’ investigators.  We’ve just started teaching Domonique (bible order referral) who is looking for a new church. She told us that she thinks that a church should make you become more Christ like …and we wholeheartedly say ‘Amen’ to that. There are couple other investigators who we could have baptismal dates for shortly, so I am bouncing off the walls excited about these next few weeks.

Tracting in the poorer areas of town is awesome! People always listen to our message and although many don’t progress much (yet) it’s so much fun. They love their Savior, have humble hearts and they don’t put worldly possessions before God.

So I’m expecting Kayla to beast during the scripture bowl and do better than my second place last year. Make your brother proud Sis:).  Mom, about the ties, we don’t have many restrictions that I know of but I don’t want to wear any crazy or bright ties would detract from my calling as missionary  …so please send nice ones.  Thank you!!

I am glad to hear that Sister Peterson, Beth and her sisters are receiving great support:). I wish Michael's Grandma all the best and miraculous recovery! It’s wonderful to know that we have the Priesthood and are allowed to administer to the sick and if it be the will of our Father in Heaven they can be healed.

Please tell Michael and Josch that I said Hi and that I wish them the best in their next semester in college (BYU-I rocks).  Hope they will have lots of fun and study hard. Tell them to take time each day and study the scriptures and ‘Preach My Gospel’ because it will help them so much on their missions. I love them like brothers.

Well I am happy that time is flying by for you guys because it surely feels the same for me …can you believe it?, it’s already mid of April.  Dad, I'm so glad to hear that you and Kayla did another Relay for Life this year. It seemed like you guys had a blast like in past years:)

Remember to invite the missionaries over for dinner often, feed them well, your best dinner should be made for the missionaries and always include dessert haha   ...and don’t forget the referrals!:). Until you are a missionary you do not realize the importance of member referrals, they are crucial to the work. And don’t be shy to share the gospel with non members, it’s our duty to share it, and it would be selfish of us to hide from others something that makes us so happy.
Have a great week!

Love ya'll

It is just awesome to be a Missionary!!!!!!

Dear Family,

I am so sorry for the loss of Brother Peterson. Please send my best wishes to the Peterson family. We must all be thankful for the blessings of the Temple where we can be sealed as eternal families.

So, did I or did I not get transferred?   ….that is the question!    Well  ….I didn't:)  I will be staying in Jackson, Tennessee for another six weeks. On the other hand, my companion Elder Andersen is getting transferred. So on Wednesday I will find out who my new companion will be. I have learned a lot and have enjoyed these last six weeks serving with Elder Andersen.  He has taught me well and it was true blessing and real pleasure to serve with him. I am very glad that I am able to stay here in Jackson. It is a wonderful city filled with many wonderful people.

These last two months have gone by speedily. I have learned much and I am grateful for the challenges I have been given because they were for my benefit and helped me to grow. I have recently been reading in ‘Jesus the Christ’ by James E. Talmage. It is a wonderful book and it explains doctrines, principles and Christ ministry in such a simple way making it easy to understand. Reading the book and my studies from it has allowed me to grow in deeper understanding, appreciation and love for Christ. I also have come to understand more of the Atonement. Only a perfect being could take upon himself the sins of the world and there was a time when Jesus Christ was on the cross and the presence of the Father left him. I never understood this part and why it was significant, but from my studies I have realized that it was necessary because Jesus to accomplish the Atonement had to do it on his own. I have deeply come to appreciate my Savior and his love for me.

Two Sundays ago during the third hour of services in Jackson Ward, President and Sister Drewes gave a great presentation about Mormon.org. Afterwards we visited a part member family (husband was a non-member). We had visited them first time two Sundays ago, and last week we set a semi baptismal date with him. It was pretty awesome to have President and Sister Drewes with us and we hope for some big changes of heart for him as result of this visit. We are still working with Jonathon who had really enjoyed Sunday morning session of the General Conference. We hope to meet with him sometime this week and set a baptismal date:)  (yeah!)

No new progressing investigators yet, but they will come and when they do we will be ready to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ.

As for me not sending any pictures last week ….I guess I am just technologically challenged and found a way to delete all my pictures off my camera and then later on in the week I found out that the camera's LCD screen had a crack in it from the inside.  Don’t know what is wrong with it.  Hope that the warranty covers it?

Thanks for the pictures you have sent me.  It’s amazing how fast the missionary chart is filling up. I am grateful for all your support and prayers.  As of right know I have everything I need, don’t worry about me I am being taken care of.

I would like to bare my testimony that I know that Jesus is the Christ. I do not have a perfect knowledge nor will I ever attain perfect knowledge in this life but I love of my Savior, who's work I am doing. I love my Father in Heaven, the father of my spirit, who gave me the opportunity to obtain a mortal body. I have a testimony of families, that they are ordained of God and that they are meant to be eternal. I love the Temple and I love you guys (my eternal family:) lots.

Love ya'll,
Elder Wawro

PS: During conference this weekend I had this wonderful feeling of peace and happiness, it is just awesome to be a Missionary!!!!
