On the Lord's errand

Dear Family,

Ok, we are first going to set things straight, I work out every morning, it’s just when you eat well every day and since I don’t play football anymore, I have no effective way to keep the weight off. But don't worry, when the summer comes and I will be sweating to death then the weight loss is guaranteed.

This past bike week went very well, obviously there are always things to improve upon but it was not a bad week at all. We have some really wonderful investigators that we are teaching and as the weeks progress I will update you on them, but things are looking good.

I feel like my companion and I gaining the trust of the members here in the Ward, and as we work better with them the work will move even faster and more efficiently. So far so good although that doesn't mean there hasn't been hardships because adversary is working really hard, probably harder than ever. He wants us to fail because he knows how many people are ready here in this area to here the good news of the restored Gospel.   We won't give up because we are on the Lord’s errand.

Mom, despite the change in my address I did get all the letters from both you and Kayla. Thank you for them, they are greatly appreciated. So excited for Kayla's summer job …she will do great!  Thank you again for all your help and support!!

Today as I prayed in the morning I felt like I should read through the white handbook and make a list of my personal deviations from doing the Lord’s work in His way.  In personal studies I went through it with strong desire or motivation, got half way and I made already a list of 16 variations so far.  They are mostly small things that I need to improve upon but it’s the small and simple things that bring to pass great things. That made an impact on me today so I thought I would share it with you.

I will pray for you all and also for your success as missionaries, which is a sacred obligation we all have as members of Christ's true Church.

Tell Michael Hendrix good luck for me and that I am proud of him!!!

Love,
Elder Wawro

In a new area of Little Rock

Dear Family,

Shortly after my email to you last Monday, Elder Taylor and I found out that we will now be covering a different geographical area of Little Rock and we have swapped with another set of Missionaries.

We are basically starting from scratch in this area, but there is so much good potential in our new Ward.  The members are really cool and welcoming and they like to feed us.  Well, I guess this will be a good time to mention that I recently weighed about 195 pounds...but that’s another story.

This week is our bike week.  We are rolling up our sleeves because it is going to take a lot of hard work and many miracles to get our area to be 5.0, but we will do our best to get there.
My companion spent most of his life in Bountiful, Utah, but lived also with his family in Huston, Texas for about 9 months ...that's where I'm hearing from you that Nick Tatom will be serving his Mission.

Sorry no pictures this week either …will try send them next week.
Have a great week

Elder Wawro

Really good week

Dear Family,

WOW, this has been really good week for me. My new companion is Elder Taylor. He has only been out serving for a little over 5 months and was called to be my companion as a Zone Leader. That’s crazy.  We also got 2 new Assistants to the Mission President, both of them serving less than a year (7 and 10 months), that makes the most of the Leadership in our Mission really young  ….I told you last week that there will be some big changes.

We had so many miracles happen this week. We have found 6 new investigators and set 3 more baptismal dates.  Few days ago while tracting we met awesome lady. She came to Church this past week, and we will be teaching her this evening and hope that by the end of this week she will have a baptismal date.  She has a strong desire to find out for herself if the Book of Mormon is true.

Sorry about the late email. Next week I will be more organized and that means pictures:)

Have a great week and much love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Elder Wawro

Staying in Maple Street area

Dear Family,

Turned out that I am not getting transferred but my current companion Elder Graham is.  He was in the Maple Street area for almost an entire year - he is excited for his new opportunity to serve in the new area.  I don’t know yet who my new companion will be, but I’m hearing that this transfer there is going to be a lot of changes.  I will tell you who my new companion is next week.

Thank you for accepting my challenge from last week, I know you will do a good job and the Lord will bless you so much for that sacrifice.  Hope and pray that you find someone that will get baptized and be eternally blessed by it.

Not much had happened this past week.  We are still hoping and praying that there will be a breakthrough in this area. I don't know why I don’t get blessed with a lot of success. It’s got to be something I need to change so hopefully I can find it and then fix it.

Yesterday we met a nice young lady, a college student from the University of Arkansas Little Rock and we are scheduled to meet with her on Wednesday hoping that we can teach her the gospel.  This will be my first college student I will be teaching, so I hope it all goes well.

Have a blessed week and be safe - I love you all so much!

Top Mission in the World

Dear Family,

This week has been very busy but REALLY, REALLY cool. We had our Mission tour this week with Elder Allen of the Seventy who is the Managing Director of the Missionary Department as well as Brother Donaldson,  former Mission President of San Diego Mission which appears in District 2 of Preach My Gospel. On Wednesday and Thursday we had Zone Conference and both Elder Allen and Brother Donaldson taught us SO MUCH on how to do the missionary work. And on Friday I got to go to special Zone Leader Council and Leadership Training in Memphis, Tennessee.   There we were taught again by those two great men and President Petersen, our Mission President. We were called to repentance both days and they showed us how to improve our planning and finding and how to become Preach My Gospel Missionaries. This Mission is going to be the Top Mission in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and I look forward to doing greater things in my Mission.

We have a few good investigators that we are working with that we love but at the moment we don't have anyone that is really looking solid for baptism.

I actually do have something exciting to report on the SUV Choir, they will be performing in Little Rock, Arkansas and Memphis, Tennessee in 2013, so that is awesome. All four Stake Presidents loved the idea and are excited for it. So thanks dad, you helped so much in being able to get his done here in the Arkansas Little Rock Mission.

I love this work and as I was writing this email I have just felt so happy, there is no better work then this.   So I challenge you as family to find 1 family for the Missionaries in our Ward back home to baptize before the end of the year.  WILL YOU ACCEPT MY CHALLENGE?  Let me know in your next email.

I love you all so much and have a FANTASTIC week.

Love,
Elder Wawro
